u never feel the sore in u legs when u walk

well, u do when u chill down and relax. yesterday almost walked the whole penang island with rong and lenny. it was fun, and my leg doesnt feel like breaking off. maybe it was because with good company all bad goes away? interesting thing to think about. so anyway, went backpacking(rong isnt carrying a backpack...) with rong and lenny to penang island. i never drove to any places in penang except the usual school and general hospital... so walking suits me. better than driving actually. did i ever mentioned that i dont like driving? i'd prefer something simple like cycling or walking over driving if i can help it. prefer swimming too if the distance isnt that far or risk being swept away by ocean currents.

the trip is fun. food, places and people all in one package. i'd reckon that penang is nothing without its food. everything else is for the indoor nerds who cry pain after walking a city block(probably less). but overall, its the company of rong and lenny that makes it all complete. here we have lenny take charge as tour guide who springs into action once we hammer out where we want to go. honestly, we never planned where to go, everything was instantaneous, which makes this trip heck alot cooler. rong who would play with just bout anyting, including the water fountain in front of times square -_-"... yea, she's abit of a combination of hyperactive and crazy lol.. and me? well, cant think of anything yet so lets leave it there haha..

pictures are on fb.. lazy re-upload bsc it took me abit more than an hour for the upload to complete. and those were selected among the tons of pictures rong and lenny took.. they took... wait lemme check... a total of 329 pictures on a single day. some of them deleted bsc of various reasons.

conclusion, trip is awesome, food is great, companions are priceless. also, the laksa is fantastic! lol... hope there is another of these trips someday.. oh wait, yinjou wants one too!

sigh...

back from PBIM duty as HAM radio operator. the preparation and stuff is hectic and fun, but the actual duty itself is more than disappointing, its madness. all the last minute changes, the stupidly stingy organizers, the resources left unused... all those that makes the runners rant and complain to no ends. i didnt even want to report the complains back to base bsc there are alot of fellow HAMs already doing that n i figured i dont need to report another angry mob of runners complaining about the lack of drinking water and medical supplies. it was chaotic in a less obvious way. totally unobservable by the runners... only by the ones having to try to relay infos.

it was fun being a part of HAM social circle. met new ppl, old and young. met all kinds of ppl, from weird to wise. the kinda things that just rejuvenates your spirit to look forward towards what's in store for you at the next moment. and i seriously learned alot from this experience... think i would go again next year haha...

another thing would be things happening in my house... well, mostly mom. and i didnt wanna complain much about family troubles here bsc there seems to be too much of them floating around the cyberspace right now... its like its family bitching seasons now...

watever... duty's over, had fun, overwhelmingly tired bsc i woke up at 9am, went to meet up with junlin at 12pm, set up with Hao Tien for the whole afternoon, meet up with 9W2DCY(Daniel, really nice guy), went for dinner, shower at yifeng's house then left for St John's HQ at 10, abit of briefing, then off to our stations at 12am, signal check and mount up, 2am full runners start, then runners from all categories starts running, received alot of complains, bla bla bla, round up stragglers from 8.30 onwards, request station shutdown at 9.08am.

nvm, will go again next year...

"This is Nine-Whiskey-Two-November-Foxtrot-Sierra reporting QRT at 2139 hours. 88 and 73 over.."

havent been here for a long time

yea.. its been a long time. busy with everything mom throws at me. busy with rank rush in AVA SEA. busy formatting my pc bsc my bro screwed it up. busy organizing the penang bridge marathon duty stuff. busy teaching my sis add maths and other subjects. busy busy busy... well, im not actually tat busy if u're really wondering. its just that i do have alot of things to do which doesnt allow me the pleasure of sitting here typing a blog post. i was on fb more frequent that here bsc its faster to just post something out on fb. but nevertheless, i like this place better.

nothing much to post. all the recent updates are posted back in fb. the main stuff is change of pc casing which i've posted pictures to fb. not feeling like reposting stuff. since there aint much ppl reading this other than myself. another major change is the Android port for my Omnia 2 has been updated. my phone is now running Froyo BETA 3. alot smoother and responsive, thanks to more RAM allocated for graphics. fyi, my phone only has 150mb of ram. to compensate or the less rams for system operations, linux swap has been created. 512mb of them.

hmm... oh yea, going for marathon duty briefing on thursday. me, junlin n toobert is going for duty for the marathon this weekend. time to put our radio licenses to good use.

other than that, welcome back lenny xD. im pretty sure u're already back in penang soil when u read this

well, tats bout it, have a nice day

back to INTI

for a while.

and i found out that most of my classmates are frantically trying to get their projects done. its a relatively simple project actually. they were given the title and everything 3 months ago, back when i was still in the hospital. heck, hung phung even called me up the instant he got the title for the project but everyone else just plain slacking thinking there's 3 more months. now, the deadline's next week and most of them had started to assemble it on breadboards trying to make a prototype. they havent figured out the bug, havent planned out the layout on the vero-board, didnt fully tested out, didnt even write the report for the thing. well, their designs are the same bsc they copied each other anyway. there are no difference at all from each other. 7805 as regulator, ne55 as oscilator and a double phase buck-boost converter. exactly the same.

today i was supposed to just go school, do the paperworks then go home for lunch. instead, i stayed back helping them. thinking back, i have no idea y i did it. couldnt it be better off if i just go home and leave them to rot and burn? that ought to teach them a lesson on last minute plagiarism + not utilizing ANYTHING they've learned in class. heck, they dont even look like DEEI students. more like high school kids doing their KH projects.

watever, gonna have to go back tmr and finish what i've started. thats all for today.

note: to all drivers, please get a good windshield rain repel. its hard to see the road without it when malaysia's raining like hell.

i little food for thought

i realized that i only work as hard as i can when there is something that i need but i cant get it. over the years, i became interested in electronics not because i am interested in electronics. its because there are alot of things that i cant do without things that are DIY-ed and you couldnt exactly buy those kinda stuff anywhere. even if its there, those things always include alot of nonsense features which makes them very expensive(i was very poor back then). so i picked up electronics and learned how these little components work together and make something i needed(or wanted) with what i've learned. 学艺自用.

i remembered there was once when i needed a torchlight which is brighter than those expensive but barely usable crap sold in pasar malam. so what i did was i found a white LED, and i was overjoyed at the time bsc it was the first time i ever found one. i got it from a toy which you get from those 50 cents capsule thing. the toy was out of battery of course, and i couldnt afford batteries for it. those lithium batteries cost bout rm7 at the time. i've got alot of old batteries collected over time but it wouldnt work(those were old batteries). so i figured tat it needs more power. and where do you get more power? it was almost an eureka moment when i thought tat the power from the mains socket never runs out and could power the television in my house and the television was so bright!!! laugh if u want... i sometimes too laugh at myself for what i did back then. i remember pulling the power cord from the kettle(or was it the rice cooker?) and bsc the contacts of those power cords were inside 3 holes(ground, live and neutral), i only need to stick a wire into them to access it. n stupidly, tats what i did. i hook up the LED to the power cord and i turned on the power. it was a standard sized LED, the kind you would find at KH lab, so i needs minimum of 1.5V or a MAXIMUM of 5v(cheap ones blow at a mere 3v). also it is worthy to be noted that the mains put out 240v of power. well, at that time i didnt know anything bout ohm's law, volts or AC/DC. i just know that that thing needs power and power is what im giving it. what happened? it blew up. yes, the LED blew up. and i was living in chai leng park at the time and the TNB is quite crappy at the time(it still is, ask yifeng) so the power was shorted and caused the whole lorong to be out of power(i knew that later). the LED blew up in my face bsc i was so near to it. immediately i was frightened, afraid that my mom or dad would come in and saw what i did so i threw everything away. i was so scared that i couldnt sit right and actually pee in my own pants. when my parents did came back, they immediately knew something was wrong because the whole house smelled of smoke and there was a patch of black soot on the floor of the living room. i got scolded of course.

there was alot of such cases over the years of my life. but i remember this one best bsc i was SO freaking stupid LOL. it was a good try for the extent of my knowledge back then. i used to work on making a torchlight everyday after school and the usual homework. i experimented with all sorts of stuff, even with batteries made of lemon. of course, i was stupid and i used plastic pieces from toys instead of metal haha... but for all the stupidity, i worked hard. harder than i did with my academics all bsc i needed a torchlight!

then there comes UPSR. truth to be told. i was a bad kid back then. not in bully or stealing kind of bad kid, i am just not tat interested in study. i was back in standard one but my first primary school killed my passion for study. SRJK(C) Chung Hwa 3 in Inderawasih, Prai. that school killed my passion for study. then i switched school at the end of standard 2 but my interest never came back. i was the typical lazy boy who doesnt like to do homework, doesnt pay attention in class, that sort of things. i read books though, mostly english story books i borrowed from libraries. but i dotn like homeworks and i seldom do them. its not like i dont finish them, i dont even do them. and in primary school you get strokes of cane if you dont do homework or get bad results in exams but i didnt cared. it hurts alright, but i didnt cared much. LOL, even with this attitude, i am still in the first class!! so im a lazy dont care bout study student, but i still got 7As in UPSR. what happened? now, you might say that UPSR is ridiculously easy n all.. but in my primary school, only 21 of us got 7A. so to us back then, it was kinda hard. actually, i was that kinda student until June of standard 6. well, i fell in love. my first love actually. she wasnt the very smart type and i honestly forgot why i loved her so dont bother asking. she was just the average girl which we shared the same class for 2 years and she lived opposite of my house back then. back then i was stupid and i wanted to impress her and win her over bsc gossips had it that she was in love with another guy. now, aint rich, i aint handsome for obvious enough reasons and i am kinda shy back then. so i needed a way to get her attention and mom happened to tell me one day that if you're good in your studies, girls would be all over you. and i suckered believed it. it wasnt until June that i decided to give it a try. i was studying HARD. it was like i became a study machine and all my academics went skyrocket. my math teacher had a very bad image of me bsc i particularly flunked math and was worst in class. she was shocked bsc i went from fail to 98(yes, i remembered that mark very well) in 2 months. and i did all the homework there ever is. incredibly, all my results went up. i even got 1st place in malay and english essay writing. i still have the certificate lol... and yes, i've got her attention. one day she came over my place and asked me why i changed so much. and that was it! she wasnt very good at academics too so i helped her and secretly made my move haha... i still remember that before the first paper of UPSR, she held my hand and wished me luck. well, it made me feel like i could fly... we still maintained contact and we go cycling around the taman in the holidays before high school. we both got into jit sin fortunately. on january next year, we became a couple.

and this is how i became less of a lazy student. not bsc i've had it in me but bsc of a girl. if i've never met her, i think i wouldnt b in jit sin, and my life would be totally different. maybe i would be in one of those school nearby where gangster and motorcycle racing is at large. and turned out to be a typical "pai kia". i would certainly say that my life is better because of her.

actually, i wrote all these bsc internet is down. stupid screamyx. and i haven been scrambling my mind trying to figure out a way to get online. found how to hijack the ipad's underused data plan and suddenly thought about all these. lesson? things would work out if you really wish it would. set a goal to motivate yourself and anything could be accomplished! yes, even picking up girls LOL... so to all the people out there, dont ever give up.

goodnight everyone...

nothing much lately

been listening to songs... since im already outdated in terms of songs by 1 month...

updates since a while ago..

truth to be told, i hate being at home with nothing to do. too free, too much time wasted doing things that has no positive impact to my future. what i should be doing at this kind of time is studying. homeworks(they are called assignments nowadays), projects, preparations, casual revisions and so on.. instead, im home. leeching off resources at home without doing anything that is worth those resources.

yes, i would very much like to go back to school. meet those familiar faces, driving to school early in the morning and hope i dont get caught up in the traffic congestion, ignoring that slow as hell elevator and take the stairs instead at school, sitting at that corner in the canteen which i have done since the beginning of sem 1(yes, that part was quite hot, but i prefer the fan instead of air-con. so please bugger off asking.), the rm2.50 hotdog bun which tasted great at the beginning and is starting to deteriorate... etc. there are just so many minute fun things at that place that makes my life normal.

too bad exam's next week. i've missed one month worth of study and if i've gone back to school last week, i doubt i can catch up. the electronics part, sure. i've learnt most of it before, but that's just one of the 4 subjects. the others(very complicated technical drawing, maths and C++), is just giving me a headache. i've tried going through them the day after i got back. they're just too much. they are things that needed proper tutoring. electronics i can blaze through, but not C++, not drawing, and certainly not maths. i suck at maths. i can do maths, but the results wont be pretty. i wont fail at least, but it wont be pretty. to get my heads just above the water is not something i have in mind, bsc the marks we get in the exam this time is counted into the marks for this semester through some i-dont-care-how calculations. if i get bad results this time, it'll screw up my final pretty good. and i dont want to end up having to retake sem 2 next time. there are a few of them who had to retake sem 1 already. i dont want to do so, plainly bsc its a waste of time and money(retake meant pay for sem 2 again. not a very pleasant thing to have since im not the one earning the money for this. also, PTPTN would be stopped.). so i've decided that as much as i hated it, i have to take my sem 2 next year. but rest assured, i'll still read through the notes(special thanks to hung phung) while im at home. guess i now know how u felt a few months back lenny. it sucks alright.

so what lately? became a software tester lol.. thanks to VirtualBox, i can test any software in an isolated virtual machine. which means i can install anything i like and it wont affect the host machine. currently, am testing TrustPort antivirus. the test in the VB went well, so i am replacing BitDefender with it. BitDef has gotten very annoying for the past few months anyway. and TrustPort has emerged to be better than BitDef in terms of detection rate(which is all that matters for an antivirus products). sure, BitDef's got a better looking GUI, but its glitchy. i hate it when bdagent.exe went rogue after i exit AVA and i have to re-login to get it fixed. i just installed TrustPort, so... i'll giv it a few days and see what happens.

also, the development team at MoDaCo has released the BETA 2 for the Android Froyo for Samsung Omnia 2. it worked great. its even faster, less bugs, GPS gets a lock on even faster than it did on Windows Mobile. there are still some minor issues nevertheless, its a beta release wad... got it ported to my phone and i am happy that i've gotten it done without any problems. head over to the website and u'll find hilarious amounts of ppl either acting smart or just being plain stupid and screwed up their phone, crying for help while the developers are frustrated at them for well.... being an idiot LOL...

these are just the stuff that occupied my time while im at home. and i realized this morning that i've been linux-ing(android is based on linux too) for a week straight. tat meant i didnt played AVA or any casual games for almost a week already. result? i got kicked outta my clan for being inactive lol.. i got kicked once, this was the 2nd time. they're some pretty serious bunch of ppl, if you cant play, they dont want you.

and YOU, get well soon. hate to know someone i know is sick and i cant do a darn thing bout it...

cya

p.s. go watch Johny English Reborn, its F-ing hilarious lol

posting from Huntsman-PC

Huntsman-PC is the name of my desktop at home. i can prove it to you but this isnt anything important enough to prove. trigo identities are... lol back to spm adi in english, it means i am posting this while lounging on my familiar plastic chair in the room opposite to my real room. i am home.

actually, i am home on tuesday but i've been busy. spent the rest of tuesday sleeping haha... wednesday i got very fed up that my bro didnt take good enough care of my desktop. so i had to do a whole day of maintainence to get it back to top shape. hey, its alot of work u know? then today is spent playing AVA. i suck. after almost 3 weeks of not touching a mouse, everything feels strange n alien. even the way the cursor moves in response to my hand surprise me somehow. oh, the new GUI of blogger is nice. very bandwidth efficient i would say. loads faster, looks cleaner... u guys should try it out.

the whole hospitalization is hell, nightmare. if you ask me, i wouldnt recommend anyone to go through this unless they're mentally well prepared. the physical part is not much a problem bsc there's doctors n nurses n all that to take care of you while you're in there. but srsly, dont do this unless you really want it badly. i didnt, i just didnt want 17 years of work go down the drain. anyone out there with the same birth defect as me, THINK before you say yes, cause its gonna hurt, alot. n boy am i glad to b out of that place. k, this is my daily routine in there. 6am, wake up, shower, "breakfast"(i can do it later if i want, but being on liquid diet, i seldom postpone it). then i hv to replace 8 little rubber bands in my mouth which is a frustrating pain in the ass bsc those rubber bands rarely co-operates. bout 8 till 9 am, doctors come for their routine check on patients. usually, they'll bring a whole kampung of ppl(i counted 16) to this not very big room n examine the patients like they're an alien bug speciment. after they left, im free to do watever i want. which is nothing much since it consisted of sleep, drink n read. then its till bout 11pm at night and i sleep. its a really boring life there. sure, i would wander around sometimes(i mean when the nurses r not watching, bsc im NOT allowed to be out of that room unless i hv to pee), but i cant go far. n i dont hv to go blabbing about all the procedures n tubes thing. covered those in previous post. in short, its hell. watever, im out now. but i still hv to deal with those annoying rubber bands every morning. they're so small n they hv to fit in my mouth on those hooks mounted on my braces.. its an hour at least to replace them all. n tats after some serious punching and kicking the walls n doors in frustration. and still, liquid diet. which meant im hungry most of the time. also bsc of my diet, i found myself physically weak. i cant lift stuff i can easily pick them up a few months ago, i lost my stamina(i am panting hard after going up 3 floors) and i am sleepy most of the time. this is very bad.

one thing i am proud of is that during the last day of my stay, i am able to vent my frustration and anger towards the government(with help from lenny too. thanks lenny!) to successfully implement Android into my pity Samsung Omnia 2. this phone is 3 years old(take or give a few months), boots Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional and lags as hell. seriously, every actions needs bout 3 to 6 seconds to get a reaction. i use my phone mostly to text, but the VERY slow reaction of the phone meant you get this:

 *phone rings*

-picks up phone and hit the message icon-

 *waits 3-6 secs*

 *list message from everyone*

-press the new message to open it up so i can read it-

 *waits 3-6 secs*

 *the new message is displayed*

-reads the message, then press the typing space below to reply-

*waits 3 secs(this part is the fastest)*

 *on-screen keyboard pops up*

 -starts typing reply message-

i dont know bout you guys, but this is frustratingly slow. n this is the best case scenario. in the worst case scenario which i hv encountered while im at school is this

*phone rings*

-picks up phone and hit the message icon-

 *waits 3-6 secs*

 *not done yet*

-chat with friends for a few minute-

 *not done yet*

 -frustrated, close it then reopens-

 *waits 3-6 secs*

 *not done yet*

"wtf is wrong with this phone!?"

 *list message from everyone*

-press the new message to open it up so i can read it-

its ridiculous if i hv to live with something like that. also, the functionalities of windows mobile(lets b geeks n call it winmo from now on) is poor. cant install/play Angry Birds(lol..), slow wifi, lousy GPS support(i mean GPS not even working), hv to install 3rd party(paid) software to use most of the features. n more which i am lazy to type out. so, enter the new life for this Korean made smartphone. Android. to be precise, Android 2.2, codenamed "Froyo". it is everything that winmo cant do. fast response(as in instataneous), working GPS, loads of free software in Android Market(you can get paid ones as well, but who wants them when there's freebies?), you can get software on the spot(as in no need to go through a computer to get stuff installed), blazingly fast connection speed, AND, i can play Angry Birds!!! RIO!!! dont believe me?

lol.. angry birds it is... so in general, its given my phone a new life. mom was planning on getting a iphone for me back when i was so darn pissed by this phone. now, im loving it bsc its a smartphone again instead of dumb-and-lazy phone. also, i didnt completely replaced the old OS incase the new one failed as the Android is actually a beta distro(short form for distribution), Almar(a developer) and his team is currently working on an official release or maybe the latest distro(2.3 Gingerbread). another reason i didnt completely replace is i dont dare to. to completely replace winmo, i'll hv to wipe out winmo from my phone and carefully replace it with Android. one wrong move and the phone is bricked(a technical term for screwed). a bricked phone will resemble a very expensive brick bsc the phone will no longer function, at all.

k, i'll let the pictures do the talking.

old OS, Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional bootscreen
this the home page. everytime i want to read a new sms, i press on the yellow envelope icon. the home page has got 3 pages which can be customized.
this is the Start page. this appears when u press the Start button on top left. it lists the applications or "apps" installed, along with the phone's features. even this page loads after 3 seconds... which is a headache
this is the Android 2.2 Froyo. i think all versions of Android have this bootscreen.
this is what happens before the bootscreen. line of commands like this will  flow on screen like  hacking process in movies lol..

android's home page. the 4 icons at the bottom is original, i put in the rest....

this is the so called "Start" page, but in Android, its called "App" page. every app is listed here. haha, installed Angry Birds Rio and fruit Ninja... its free wad..
this is to prove that im actually running Android 2.2 Froyo on my Samsung Omnia 2 i8000 8GB
k, tats bout it... till next time! oh, i've finished downloading Need For Speed Hot Pursuit(the 2010 version), anyone interested just give me a call or watever ways to notify me.  cheerio!
