starting a new project. building a power supply. its basicly juz a big battery sort of thing but it doesnt runs out of juice. n i wont hv to whine bout not having enough power ever again!
i've built a lot of power supplies before n i can frankly u guys this: "i hate building power supplies!" y? cuz i failed in making every single 1 of them. ok, mayb not. i've suceeded in building 1 for my 2N3055 amplifier. which is toasted beyond repair except to replace the whole thing. n tat i've adi reused the components to build other stuff. n the one i've built for lim seng chong.... erm.... not even close to my satisfactory. since i 've failed so many times in building tat simple of a thing.
for this time, im going for a linear power supply, unfortunately not a SMPS. hey, dya know how complex a SMPS is? crack open your computer's pwr supply n go on woo...ing. its too complex for me. high speed mosfet, EMI filter, chopper, regulator.... i cant build even one of them, ok, i can make a regulator but tats not the point. the point is, a SMPS is really complex n im not wasting time n money on stuff i dont know how to make.
so, linear power supply checklist.
- transformer(can get 1 from old electronics)
- wires(cracked a SMPS lately, it'll last)
- regulator(i think i've got a LM350 in my private stash, n the best part is its a adjustable regulator)
- rectifier(can get from SMPS)
- capacitor(SMPS)
- LED(hmm..... take from school project)
- inductor(there's a really big 1 on the SMPS)
- heat sink(SMPS got it, 2 of it actually)
- switch(got some from lim seng chong last week)
- wat else?
- resistor?(y the hell am i worrying bout this? there r tons of these in the SMPS!)
- binding post
- potentiometer
- casing(use the SMPS)
penang bridge run is 3 days away n my name's not in the list. y? not gonna repeat it. laugh n sneer all u want, im not gonna care. juz hope its not raining tat day. god i miss those power bars...
